Even if a domain registrar charges $0.00 for your domain name, there is still an ICANN fee. The registrar can pay that for you, but I doubt they would do that. You can obtain a free non-traditional TLD (.tk instead of .com) at the URL below. If you ever choose to purchase your web hosting instead of using your own server, you would want to read their terms and conditions. Most will offer a free domain with their service, but will lock it to their service and forbid you to transfer it to another registrar, or make you pay high renewal fees.
purchase comes with free "WhoIs" privacy guard which would cost you an extra $8.99 on GoDaddyAlso includes:Free Email Forwarding Free URL ForwardingA Customizable Parking Page, plus others.Use the coupon code DREAMTIME for more discounts.
lot of people own domain names without websites. You just need to go to a registar service that sells them. The biggest player in the game is Network Solutions, but they are usually more expensive. GoDaddy.com is a great service and has great prices, it is what I register my domains with. When ordering, just make sure you do a DOMAIN REGISTRATION and don't add any other service (GoDaddy will try to sell you TONS of add-ons). When you are ready to start the website, then you can look into hosting services and the extra services. If you still have trouble online, pickup the phone and call them, they have good sales support. Beware the "up-sales" though
The Domain Name System also defines the technical underpinnings of the functionality of this database service. For this purpose it defines the DNS protocol, a detailed specification of the data structures and communication exchanges used in DNS, as part of the Internet Protocol Suite (TCP/IP). The DNS protocol was developed and defined in the early 1980s and published by the Internet Engineering Task Force (cf. History) source wikipedia
